The Jaekels have imprisoned Januae and the chiurgeon and put them to work constructing animal attributes to graft onto them. The two find themselves at odds as to how to proceed with their next set of orders given to them by their captors.
The Jaekels have made Januae their prisoner and have taken him to the inhospitable Aras Island where they dwell. Though he considers himself lucky to be alive, he’s not sure what plans these marauders have for him.
Januae finally ends up teleporting out of Lostrei. Instead of arriving back at the Durkhal in Qi, he finds he missed the mark a bit, ending up on the deck of a ship possibly heading into Qi’s port. Or did he miss the mark by more than he thought?
Rather than being teleported back home, Januae is still in Lostrei as he recovers from the ritual the priests put him through. While figuring out how to get back to Qi he learns an interesting truth about the Gaians in relation to the Amber Papacy.
